Our story

Rooted in New Haven since 1961

Our community grew from New Haven’s Temple #40 on Dixwell Avenue. Under the leadership of Imam Dr. Abdul-Majid Karim Hasan, who served this community for some fifty years, and with the guidance of Imam W. Deen Mohammed, we embraced the universal teachings of the Holy Qur’an and the example of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Today the masjid carries his name and continues his work: worship, education, and service to Hamden and Greater New Haven.
